From UK toy manufacturers Triang, comes this great board game released to coincide with the 1965 movie. The fantastic detail in the playing pieces makes this item of memorabilia a must have for serious collectors. In 1980, Daryl responded to an advert in Film Review magazine which declared ‘rare and unusual James Bond board game £40.00’ (a considerable sum, 20 years ago!). What he received by return of post was beyond his wildest dreams. Even now, it is still one of the most impressive 007 ‘toys’ to have ever been produced. Today, a copy of this board game would cost around £250 on the collector’s market. Triang were based in Hampshire and in recent years, a number of these games have surfaced in the region, often in mint condition and from ex-factory employees. Spears Games (of America) also produced a contemporary Thunderball board game. The celebrated film maker (and well known movie geek!) Quentin Tarantino is know to own a copy of a Thunderball board game, but which version, is unclear. |
